Albatros
The large-area concept.
Especially designed to meet the requirements of outdoor catering, this sunshade concept provides an exclusive atmosphere in large areas. Its clear design is unique and lends its very own unmistakable charm to any outside area. These sunshades stand out by virtue of their maintenance-free drive and particularly robust construction. They are simple to operate: opening and closing with a removable hand crank of stainless steel (approx. 250 revolutions) or batterypowered drill (hexagonal fitting). Opening/closing process lasts about 1 minute.
Technical Data and Standard Sizes
* When concrete slabs are used as ballast the shade cannot be fully closed because of the length of the spokes. In this case the length of the shaft can be extended by approx. 20 cm at an extra charge (cf. price-list Accessories). Note that the height dimensions then have to be increased by 20 cm.
Additional sizes: 4,00 x 6,00 m, 5,00 x 5,85 m, 5,00 x 7,50 m, 6,00 x 6,90 m (cf. sep. data sheet)
In accordance with the calculations of the GermanTechnical Inspection Agency ALBATROS can safely be opened at a wind speed of 50 km/h provided it is secured with adequate ballast. Smaller sunshades, e.g. ˜ 8 m or ˜ 9 m can withstand higher wind speed if maximum ballast requirements are observed.
Attention: When strong winds occur close umbrella immediately and fasten the covering.
Base and Ballast
If the ground is unstable installation base should be enlarged.
Note: Intermediate sizes as well as special sizes on request. Above particulars are to be understood as approximate and refer to framework fitted with Leacril covering. Heights are based on sunshades with full frame pedestals.
The Framework
The poles of our sunshades are all made of high-quality alloyed, extruded aluminium profiles. Frame surfaces are powder-coated and shockproof, available in the standard colours white RAL 9010 or brown RAL 8019. Anodized EV-1 silvergrey on request. Head plate and decorative ball match the sunshade.
Wind Tunnel Tested
We were able to prove the stability and sturdiness of our sunshades during various tests in the wind tunnel. Even wind speeds of 50 km/h could not harm a sunshade of 500 cm diameter. Given that the support frame is adequately weighed down and the wind conditions of the planned location are taken into account, stability is guaranteed. All parts are completely maintenance-free.
Cover
The cover fits perfectly even after years of use due to a special self-tightening spring mechanism. The robust sunshade central rods consist of disc with support struts and spokes. In order to prevent the spokes from twisting, the lower diecast disc is firmly welded to the support pole.
The cover can easily be removed and replaced without the use of tools within a few minutes.
Joints
All moving axes are fitted with bolts. This extravagant technology ensures maximum stability and durability as well as easy execution of repairs. The spacer between spokes with supporting struts prevents jamming of the cloth.
Installation
Our sunshades are supplied already assembled in a cardboard sleeve. Irrespective of the size of your shade, the few stages of final assembly take just a few minutes: Withdraw sunshade from sleeve, remove packaging material, screw on head plate and place sunshade mast into holding tube.
When Not in Use
The protective cover provided can be fitted over the shade during bad weather periods. The round cardboard tube is also suitable for winter storage.
Wind Resistance Model
In accordance with DIN and European Norms, parasols are classified as "flying constructions" and must be calculated taking static wind load into account. The figures stated here are based on the the latest 2004 DIN 1055 and DIN 4112 standards. Gross price (RRP) for strengthener: 9.00 per spoke Order number for Albatros spoke strengthener: 200 412.
